How Social Divisions Explain Political Choices

The team wants to write a book examining the changes in the social bases underlying political divisions and providing explanations of why and when social bases of whatever sort underlie political preferences. The over time and cross-national research design will enable the simultaneous study of contextual factors that vary through time and space and which can provide. Comparable cross-sectional over time data sets for several decades including EGP, religion, ethnicity, region, voting behavior/political preferences and further control variables will be analyzed. The team will focus mainly on class and religion as political cleavages but ethnic/language divisions will also be considered.
