Program

The network of excellence on Economic Change, Quality of Life and Social Cohesion (Equalsoc), funded by the EU Commission under the 6th Framework Programme, and the European Consortium for Sociological Research (ECSR), announce the 2010 edition of the joint International Summer School.

The aim of the EQUALSOC-ECSR SUMMER SCHOOL is to bring academics from different disciplines whose research interest lies in the area of public policies, their consequences and their evaluation with the goal of promoting a broader knowledge of both the importance of the topic within nowadays social science and the evaluation issue (and methods) in sociology and social research. The summer school will enable students to understand the relevance of analyzing public policies side by the principles of evaluation analysis, comparing various institutional contexts. The focus will also be on current debates and how to contribute to the existing research. The 5 days programme will address several areas of current evaluation research, notably education and labour market policies, social policies, welfare, health and family.

The Summer School is also an opportunity to discuss PhD students’ and young researchers’ projects and papers.

Lectures scheduled:

The Equalsoc and ECSR joint Summer School will be held in Trento at the Conference Centre Panorama from the 23rd to the 27th of August 2010. About twenty Ph.D. students and young researchers will be hosted. Equalsoc and ECSR will fund, following their own rules, the Ph.D. students coming from the respective institutions. Other Ph.D. students not belonging either to Equalsoc or ECSR will be selected according to the quality of their proposed papers. Equalsoc & ECSR Summer School has received the logistic support of TSM (Trentino School of Management), that will grant the right to the free use of the conference room at the Conference Centre Panorama.
